UNIFORM POLICY - March 2022

At Isambard Kingdom Brunel Primary School (IKB) we ask that all children adhere to the school uniform policy. We believe the benefits that school uniform provides, include:

  • Creates a sense of identity for the school and the community
  • Gives pupils a sense of belonging and unity within a group
  • Gives pupils a sense of pride and teaches them to dress smartly
  • Creates a non-distracting environment for learning

Uniform is available from Workwear Online Ltd, Unit A12 Westpark 26, Wellington, Somerset.

The IKB school uniform consists of:

  • Navy jumper or cardigan with school logo*
  • Grey skirt, pinafore, trousers, shorts or skirt
  • White polo shirt or school shirt/blouse with or without school logo
  • Grey, black, white or navy-blue socks or tights
  • Sensible black shoes – no trainers, boots or Dolly style slip on shoes
  • In the summer months, a blue gingham dress is optional.

The IKB PE uniform consists of:

  • Yellow polo shirt with school logo
  • Navy shorts
  • Daps, plimsolls or trainers

*Uniform can be supplemented with High Street/Supermarket jumpers as long as each child has one logo jumper or cardigan for school photos and trips.

Additional recommended items include:

  • School logo book bags. All children will need a bag to bring home reading books, works of art, letters etc. A book bag is ideal for in reception and allows the child to store in in their pupil draw.
  • Winter/ Summer hat
  • Rain coat

Forest School: Your child will require warm, old clothing that you do not mind them getting wet and muddy.  They will also need waterproof coats, gloves and hats in the colder months, wellies or old trainers.

Jewellery: Jewellery (other than plain ear studs) are not permitted. Ear studs will have to be removed for physical activities. We cannot accept responsibility for any losses e.g. watches. If it is valuable or precious, please keep it at home.

Hair: Hair should be tied back for PE lessons and Forest School, if long enough to do so.

PLEASE ENSURE ALL ITEMS, INCLUDING UNDERWEAR AND SOCKS, ARE CLEARLY LABELLED WITH YOUR CHILDS NAME.

Surplus or grown out of uniform (clean and in good condition), can either be donated to the school, passed onto friends/family or you could arrange to sell it.

Second-hand Uniform Sales

Uniformerly is a site you can buy or sell second-hand uniform.  This is similar to an ebay site but does not charge commission.  When you sell your items, you can request for part or all of the purchase price to be donated to our school.
